Murders !!!

Police took no chances, when a 23 year old man appeared in Tokoroa court charged with the murder of a 66 year old school teacher. Uniformed and plainclothes police donned bullet-proof vests & guns after a angry crowd of 150 people turned out to try and catch a glimpse of the murderer. The school teacher had been in her classroom preparing lessons for the re-opening of the school the next day after the school holidays, when she was set upon and murdered. It was an incomprehensible act of violence that has left many people angry. The man was a local.

Another murder had police recruits donning overalls; gumboots; gloves & face masks, as they searched through a rugby field size area of a local rubbish dump in Wellington, for a "pair of hands". The hands had been chopped off a body, that was found floating in the sea off Wellington's south coast, not far from the dump. One man has been charged with murder and another man charged with been an accessory after the fact to murder. Combing thru the 2 metre high pile of rubbish for the "hands" is said to be a rather smelly & messy job !!!

Hearse's Are For Dead Bodies !!!

The registration of the number of non-commercial hearse's in NZ is on the rise. Why ??? Well the cost of a normal vehicle registration is about $260, but to register a hearse only costs $58. It seems that some enterprizing people have jumped on the band-wagon and are registering their normal vehicle as a hearse, because they are carrying dead bodies - frozen chickens home from the supermarkets. It has left transport authorities crying fou(w)l as a hearse is normally used to carry "dead human bodies" for the funeral industry, not frozen dead chickens home from the supermarket. Maybe they could buy 2 and bury 1 in the back yard !!!

A Real No Brainer !!!

I aren't saying you will, but wouldn't it make sense that if you were going to "rob a place" that you were armed & prepared !!! This fella must of been one sandwich short of a picnic, when he walked into a place he intend to rob, armed with a machete !!! Why ??? It was a "gunshop" !!! One of the co-owners wasn't taking it lying down, not with all the guns in the place. He grabbed one of the guns, loaded it and shot the man in the stomach. So, no brain, no gain ended up with no money & no guns - only a gunshoot wound. The gunshop owner said he is still upset & stressed at having to shoot the man. Nothing was said about how the man who was shot felt, or what happened to his machete.

Beam Me Up Scotty !!!

The remains of actor, James Doohan who played the starship Enterprize chief engineer, Scotty in Star Trek, will be blasted into space in October. His ashes will be blasted into space, with the remains of 100 other people, including astronaut Gordon Cooper who first blasted into space in 1963. After a short flight, the rocket will return to earth with the capsules holding the remains. A second flight early next year will send the capsule holding Doohan's remains into orbit, where it will remain for several years.

No Plea Entered !!!

Fiji's President will decide the fate of a protester deemed mentally ill, who threw a steel garlic crusher at a vehicle in which Princess Ann was travelling in during her tour of Fiji. The psychiatric report on the man found him unfit to enter a plea, so the court remanded him to 14 days observation in a mental hospital. Under Fijian law, the President can pardon someone mentally unfit for trial or order them confined to the mental hospital...........!!!

A Bullet Please !!!

As the trial of Saddam Hussein draws to a end the prosecution has asked for the death penalty for Hussein and two of the other seven defendants for their role in the killing of 148 Shiite Muslims. The Muslims were killed in retaliation for the assassination attempt against Hussein in 1982. A verdict is expected by mid-August. Hussein has let it be known that he would prefer a bullet to the head, by firing squad, rather than be hanged like a common criminal, if found guilty. But...as he due to stand trial again, on August 21st for the savage repression of the Kurds in 1980, I don't think he will get his bullet !!!

She's Insane !!!

USA woman, Andrea Yates, who drowned her 5 children in a bathtub has been found not guilty by reason of insanity. She will be committed to a state mental hospital and held until she is no longer deemed a threat. Four years ago a jury convicted Yates of murder, rejecting claims that she was so psychotic she thought she was saving the souls of her children by drowning them. An appeals court overturned the convictions.
How many years will have to pass before she is deemed no longer a threat and how much will it cost the state to keep her in a mental hospital all those years ??? Millions ??? A bullet costs a dollar !!!
