MO - Don't Put The Address !!!

A burglar who chose his victims from death notices in newspapers has been sentenced to three years & nine months. He would scoured newspapers for "death notices", which provided an address to which to send flowers and then break into the houses while relatives were at the funeral. A woman whose mother's house was burgled just two days after her death, said the sentance wasn't long enough. She said it was despicable for someone to raid a home when relatives were at the lowest point in their lives.

Footnote: That is really morbid, so put the address of the "funeral home" or the church for people to send flowers to - don't put the address of a private house.

MU - Killed For Her Money

A former Auckland, NZ University scientist Barbara Johnston, was killed for her money, in her Oxford, UK flat. Her parents when unable to contact her, phone the police who battered down her door. They found her body, in the bedroom. She had been strangled with her own jumper and stabbed 49 times. A 42 year old man has been charged with her murder.

NSM - Maori Burial Chests.

Waka koiwi / Maori burial chests, which have been on display in the Auckland Museum for years have been removed from display until futher dialogue can be held, due to a row over ownership and cultural sensitivity. The chests originally held bones of the Ngati Hine tribes ancestors, which were put in caves to rest in peace. They were dug up in 1880 and sold to collectors before ending up in the museum. According to maori custom,the burial chests are the vessels in which the ancestors travel to the afterlife !!!

MU - First In 150 Years !!!

The Nelson, NZ man arrested over Norfolk Islands first recorded murder in 150 years has been extradited to the island to be formally charged. The man was arrested in Nelson last week and charged with the murder of the 29 year old woman, which happened in 2002. A DNA break through gave police the lead they needed. The man who murdered her said it started off as an accident, when he hit her with his car. She ended up with 64 seperate injuries, including skull,rib & pelvic fractures, stab wounds and a dislocated ankle in frenzied attack which was said to have lasted up to 15 minutes.

NSM - Ashes Gathering Dust !!!

"Dead peoples" ashes are causing a storage headache for Papatoetoe Funeral Cottage, a South Auckland funeral home, which is appealing for people to collect their dead !!! Some "ashes" were been held at the request of relations, but a lot or urns are lying unclaimed !!! Ashes of people creamated before the year 2000 and unclaimed by the end of March will be interred at the Manukau Memorial Gardens in Papatoetoe in April. It seems that once the service is over people suddenly they think that is it - the end. Many families had simply not made a decision about what to do with the ashes, so they just lay there in storage.

Footnote: How can someone "forget" they have a "body" - well ashes - of a loved one in storage. If it was me, I would take them home !!! I wonder if there are any "maori's among those sitting on the shelf in storage - I hope not !!!

MO - House For Sale !!!

This house is not just your run of the mill house, but a "double murder house" - the Mornington, Victoria house in which John Sharpe murdered his New Zealand wife Anna Kemp and their young daughter, with a speargun. Marketed as a "charming seaside dream home" , where you can live the dream lifestyle every day !!! A spiritual cleansing was been considered to rid the house of evil.

Footnote - A "cleansing" should of been carried out, before they even put the house on the market and let "buyers" walk through !!!

MO - Not So Fresh Meat ???

A man in England who has taken to the roads for 50 years scrapping carcasses of road-kill animals up, and eating them is going to write a book. He skins & cooks the animal first of course, throwing them in the pot with a few herbs & spices. He says - "Its "free meat" and it doesn't matter how old it is. If the animal has been dead a while and has gone green, the taste is a "bit" bland, but if you cook them throughly, you can still eat it" !!! "Meat" that he has picked up and cooked, includes hedgehog; bat; badger; wessel; rat; cat; otter; and a labrador. He also tries "road-kill" in other countries when ever he is there on holiday. His argument is, that people don't turn their nose up at an apple that has fallen off a tree, so why should he turn his nose up at "free meat" from the roadside !!! Favourite snack - Badger sandwich !!!

Footnote: Maybe he could come to NZ and eat all our "road-killed" possums !!!

MU - Ex-Postie Kills Five !!!

A former postal worker who was on medicial leave for psychological leave returned to her workplace, at a mail-processing center and shoot & kill five people and then killed herself. It is believed to be the deadliest workplace shooting ever carried out by a woman in America. In the past, she had been removed from the building after co-workers said she had been acting strangely and they were afraid she might hurt herself !!!

Footnote: Is there a "message" in there somewhere ???

NSM - Graves To Be Repaired

The largest grant from the new $5 million Chinese Poll Tax Heritage Trust has gone towards restoration of desecrated Chinese graves, some dating from the early 1900's. The trust was set up last year when the government donated the $5M. It followed the governments formal apology at Chinese New Year in 2002, to descendants of Cantonese settlers, who were singled out for a poll tax of 100 pound ($15,000 in todays money) in the late 1800's. A total of $25000 has been given to the Historic Cemeteries Conservation Trust, for professional repair of headstones in the 114 Chinese grave section of the Southern Cemetery in Dunedin. Many chinese have a special affinity with ancestral graves. They believe that a deceased person had several souls, one of which remained at the gravesite.

MU - Satanic Killers Jailed.

Five Satanic cult members have been jailed for killing the female singer of their amateur heavy rock band, "Beasts of Satan" and two other women in brutal ritual murders. The five believe that their singer, who they stabbed to death under a full moon was the personification of the Virgin Mary. The singers boyfriend, was also killed with a hammer trying to stop her murder.

Footnote: I aren't in a band - I can't sing or play an instrument to save myself, but......my flatmates are in bands - one a heavy rock band !!! But you couldn't get better flatmates - could you ??? Aaaahhhhh !!!
